MINAS MED Rigid Non-Absorbable Metallic Wires and Pins are non-absorbable, non-active implants used for external and internal osteosynthesis in a dynamic way, in which destabilizing forces (which pull one fragment away from another) are transformed into compressive forces between fragments and to guide surgical instruments and implants, allowing for adequate fixation.
They come in various models, with different diameters and lengths, cylindrical in shape, smooth or threaded, calibrated or not, with a sharp penetration point and good resistance at one end. At the other end, some components have a chamfer that allows them to adapt better to the drill, making them easier to insert.
Models of Rigid Non-Absorbable Metallic Wires and Pins - MINAS MED:
They are used in corrective surgeries or for trauma treatment, maintaining the reduction of fractured bones and stabilizing bone or adjacent structures, in order to provide bone fusion or correction, and are removed or left in situ after the objectives have been met. MINAS MED Rigid Non-Absorbable Metallic Wires and Pins are indicated for bone healing of diaphyseal fractures, metacarpal fractures, fractures of the head and neck of the radius (elbow), fractures of the lateral condyle (elbow), supracondylar fractures (elbow), fractures of the tibia and fibula (knee).
The device is used in orthopaedic surgery for Inter-fragmentary fixation involving the fixation of bone structure, as an auxiliary element for bone fixation in the treatment of fractures, and can be used alone or with an external fixator. They are also used in diaphyseal fractures, including simple, comminuted or segmental fractures.
Wires and pins are being used in fractures of the distal end of the radius, both as a single treatment and as a complement to the external fixator; they are also used in unstable intra- and extra-articular fractures; in the fixation and reduction of small intra-articular fragments, guiding these bones into the reduction position.
Kirschenner wires can be used in primary treatments or as a complement to external fixation.
MINAS MED Rigid Non-Absorbable Metallic Wires and Pins are used in osteosynthesis. The wire models can be used as a guide for implanting screws in the percutaneous fixation of fractures of the middle third of the scaphoid.
The use of percutaneous fixation with Steinmann wires is indicated for elderly people with deviated and comminuted fractures.
The use of wires and pins as a complement to external fixation is indicated in cases of open fractures, polytraumas, articular and supracondylar fractures, open fractures with major soft tissue damage, fractures with major diaphyseal comminution associated with femoral neck fractures, among others.
The wires and pins are also indicated in the osteosynthesis of hand reimplantation, with effective results. They are also used to assist in the osteotomy to centralize the humeral head in posterior shoulder dislocation, maintaining joint reduction, as well as being used for alignment and fixation of fractured bones.
